Memorabilia:
1987
- Marvel
issued a postcard featuring original Fantastic Four art (pictured at right).
No artist is credited.
- A t-shirt depicting the pin-up page from issue #250 (by John Byrne)
was produced by East Coast Sportswear. I found one a comic book convention, but I am unware
of how it was distributed or marketed. It was half cotton and half polyester.
- Marvel
began printing their
Marvel Masterworks
series. Each book reprinted ten issues of classic Marvel tales, their covers
sporting a gold-foil embossing. Stan Lee wrote introductions for each one and they were only
sold in hardcover with dust jackets. Volume 2 covered issues #1 - 10 of the Fantastic Four.
There is an
error in its initial printing: page 106 is printed out of sequence and should have been placed
between pages 103 and 104. This was corrected in later editions.
- The
Fantastic Four Compendium was released by
TSR for use with their Marvel Super Heroes
role-playing game. The book contains game statistic for nearly everyone even remotely affiliated
with the FF. It also has a lot of excellent source data on the group, allies, villains,
headquarters,
vehicles, other worlds, etc.
Worth looking at, even if you don't play the game.
